The Belgian bass Tijl Faveyts first attracted international attention when he sang Sarastro in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE at the Aix-en-Provence Festival at the age of only 26. International guest engagements have recently taken Tijl Faveyts as Gurnemanz PARSIFAL to the Theater Minden, as Fasolt DAS RHEINGOLD to the Kulturpalast Dresden and to the Semperoper Dresden as Re AIDA under the baton of Christian Thielemann.
Tijl Faveyts was an ensemble member at the Theater St. Gallen and the Aalto-Theater Essen (2013 to 2019), where he was able to develop a broad repertoire. Among them are roles like Daland DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER, König Marke TRISTAN UND ISOLDE, Commendatore DON GIOVANNI, Osmin DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL, Don Basilio IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Sparafucile RIGOLETTO, Ramphis AIDA, Oroveso NORMA, Hunding DIE WALKÜRE, Doctor WOZZECK, Ferrando IL TROVATORE, Gremin EUGEN ONEGIN, Comte des Grieux MANON and many others. Since the 19-20 season, the artist has been a ensemble member of the Komische Oper Berlin.
Guest engagements have taken him to the Semper Opera Dresden, the Bayerischen Staatsoper München, the Hessische Staatstheater Wiesbaden, the Oper Bonn, the Oper Köln, the Oper Leipzig, the Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Vlaamse Opera, the Théâtre de la Monnaie Brüssel, the Opéra de Lille,, the Gärtnerplatztheater München, the Wiener Festwochen, the Theater an der Wien, the ABAO Bilbao, the teatro Cervantes Malaga, the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam ,the Teatro Modena and Reggio Emilia, the Lincoln Center New York, the NCPA Beijing and the Israeli Opera Tel Aviv.
Tijl Faveyts works with renowned conductors such as: Giacomo Sagripanti, Kazushi Ono, Fabio Luisi, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Carlo Rizzi, Kent Nagano, Daniel Harding, Antonino Fogliani, Frank Beermann, Marc Albrecht, Tomas Netopil and stage directors such as Mariame Clément, Barrie Kosky, Frank Castorf, Tatjana Gürbaca, Guy Joosten, Vincent Broussard and Stefan Herheim.
As a concert singer, he is regularly invited to sing at venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the
Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, Philharmonie Cologne, the Concertgebouw Bruges and the
Concertgebouw Amsterdam. His repertoire ranges from Bach's oratorios, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and Mendelssohn to the 20th century.
Upcoming engagements: Ulli/Buller BRODECK at the Vlaamse Opera, Fasolt DAS RHEINGOLD with Adam Fischer in BUDAPEST and Gremin EUGEN ONEGIN, Daland DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER and Bartolo LE NOZZE DI FIGARO at the Komische Oper Berlin.
